Course Overview

The Fire & Rescue Management Institute is a professional development program offered in partnership with the Fire Safety Engineering Technology Program at UNC Charlotte.

Designed for company officers, chief officers, and emerging leaders, the program focuses on developing the leadership, management, and communication skills required to effectively lead personnel and support organizational goals within Fire & Rescue services.

Format and Delivery

This offering of the Fire & Rescue Management Institute is delivered in a hybrid (online + in-person) format, combining flexibility with meaningful, real-world engagement.

Participants will experience a combination of:

  • Live, instructor-led sessions delivered via Zoom
  • Asynchronous coursework completed on their own schedule
  • In-person experiences, including the Team Building Venture Challenge Day and program graduation

This format features the same instructors and core curriculum as the traditional in-person program, while providing greater flexibility for participants balancing professional and personal commitments.

Prerequisites

Participants must have:

  • A high school diploma
