Course Overview

Minecraft® Designers
If you love the game Minecraft and always wanted to design your own world, this class is for you! Learn how to create a custom map, design structures to share between worlds, build with Redstone and Command blocks, and create custom textures for you to import at home or share with friends. Students must have the Java version of Minecraft to take this class. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Virtual Reality: The Future is Now
Embark on an EPIC adventure in virtual reality! In this cutting-edge class, learn the foundations of VR design by creating your own virtual worlds, exploring simulated environments, crafting 3D experiences, and learning basic programming concepts. At the end of the week, take home your first cardboard VR headset to show friends and family the new worlds you created. VR projects can be viewed on a website or mobile device. Students do not need a mobile device to take the class but will need access to a mobile device at home. VR projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Please Note: For your camper's safety and their overall educational experience at camp, it is necessary that they have the ability to converse in and understand English.
Please Note: Niner Academy and many 49er Minor camps are considered college-preparatory and/or career readiness camp programs for teens. Often through guest speakers, during field trips, and through class and peer-driven discussion, we may discuss societal and social issues. Campers' opinions and perspectives may differ from those of their peers and/or guest speakers; we encourage open discussion during camp. We seek to establish a camp environment where all voices are heard and opinions are respected.
Please Note: We rely on guardian discretion to select camp topics that are best suited for their child individually. Be sure to consider your child’s interests, personality, and developmental level when choosing the right camp.
Please Note: We rely on guardian discretion for appropriate dress at camp. We ask that our participants dress in a way that allows them to engage in camp activities and remain safe while doing so. Please refrain from wearing discriminatory terms, logos, pictures, cartoons, or slogans. Specific dress requirements may occur depending on the camp activity. This will be communicated in advance to guardians by our instructors.
