Blended online courses utilize a mix of synchronous and asynchronous delivery.
Synchronous delivery occurs at a specific date and time using a learning management system. Course delivery could include online chats with classmates, video conferencing, live virtual lectures, and instructor-led virtual office hours. Participants should be prepared to participate in live activities as required by the instructor and may be asked to turn web cameras on at various times.
Asynchronous delivery is a self-paced environment. It does not occur at a specific time; instead, participants access the learning management system to watch video already created by the instructor. Course delivery could include online discussion boards with classmates, recorded video lectures, and other assignments.
Requirements for blended online delivery include reliable internet access, webcam, computer access, and a headset or microphone and speakers. See specific system requirements for Zoom and Canvas.
Please note UNC Charlotte Continuing Education instructor teaching styles may vary in any blended online course delivery.
