Course Overview

Acquiring and applying financial literacy skills is one of the most important things an individual can do to ensure prolonged financial stability and a healthy quality of life. Financial literacy helps people manage money with more confidence and provides them with a better chance of managing common financial challenges that may arise throughout their lives.

This Financial Literacy Series consists of several financial segments that allow an individual to gain knowledge regarding the effective management of money and debt to improve their financial outlook. This series will provide hands-on activities to help solidify understanding and help promote a better quality of life. These segments will address money mindsets, understanding of debt, financial goals, ways to increase your knowledge of money management, and ways to improve your credit for students soon to enter adulthood. You will earn a digital badge upon completion! Digital badges are an indicator of accomplishment or skill that can be shared with colleges or employers. Digital badges can be put on social media sites such as LinkedIn, added as a link on your digital resume, and embedded in your e-portfolio.

Please Note: Niner Academy and many 49er Minor camps are considered college-preparatory and/or career readiness camp programs for teens. Often through guest speakers, during field trips, and through class and peer-driven discussion, we may discuss societal and social issues. Campers' opinions and perspectives may differ from those of their peers and/or guest speakers; we encourage open discussion during camp. We seek to establish a camp environment where all voices are heard and opinions are respected.
Please Note: We rely on guardian discretion to select camp topics that are best suited for their child individually. Be sure to consider your child’s interests, personality, and developmental level when choosing the right camp.
Please Note: We rely on guardian discretion for appropriate dress at camp. We ask that our participants dress in a way that allows them to engage in camp activities and remain safe while doing so. Please refrain from wearing discriminatory terms, logos, pictures, cartoons, or slogans. Specific dress requirements may occur depending on the camp activity. This will be communicated in advance to guardians by our instructors.
