UNC Charlotte Youth Programs Camps on Campus 49er Minors Debate & Speech Team

Our campers will learn and practice the essentials of persuasive speech and debate and work both independently and in small groups to prepare and deliver their speeches and arguments throughout the week.

Course Overview

Step Up to the Podium & Discover the Power of Your Voice

Camps on Campus Debate and Speech Team helps middle school students build confidence in speaking and sharpen the way they think. Designed for students in grades 7–8, this dynamic camp teaches the essentials of persuasive speech and debate through interactive activities, mini-debates, and team-based challenges.

Campers work both independently and in small groups throughout the week to prepare and deliver speeches, develop arguments, and practice responding thoughtfully—skills that translate directly to classroom success and everyday communication.

Through hands-on workshops, creative exercises, and mini-debates, campers learn how to construct speeches and build strong arguments step by step.
