Design & Build STEM is an electrifying summer camp designed for students in grades 5-8 who are eager to delve into the captivating realm of engineering and design. Through hands-on activities and collaborative challenges, this exhilarating program will ignite a love for STEM while equipping young minds with valuable skills for the future.
Gear Up for Exhilarating Challenges:
- Elevator Engineering: Teams will embark on a thrilling adventure as they design and build a fully functional model elevator. Utilizing a cranking device, their goal is to transport an object to the top of a structure they've meticulously engineered. This exciting challenge will put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test as they apply their knowledge of structural engineering to bring their vision to life.
- Popsicle Stick Bridge Building: Prepare to witness the power of collaboration! Teams will work together to design and build a sturdy bridge using only 200 popsicle sticks and glue. This dynamic activity will test their ingenuity and problem-solving abilities as they strive to design a bridge that not only stands strong but also exhibits exceptional weight-bearing capacity.
- Beyond the Construction Zone: Design & Build STEM goes beyond mere construction. Students will delve deep into the fascinating world of structural engineering, gaining a thorough understanding of the principles and concepts that govern the design and construction of buildings, bridges, and other structures.
