Before You Register

Participants must have successfully completed a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification before registering for Master Black Belt.

Earned your Black Belt from another provider? UNC Charlotte will need to review information about the structure of your Black Belt program and proof of completion to determine whether it meets the prerequisite requirement.

Please confirm that your Black Belt prerequisite has been satisfied before registering.

Certification Requirements

To earn the Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification, participants must successfully complete the online coursework, assessment and required coaching components.

• Complete 20 online instructional modules and all required assignments.
• Pass the final Master Black Belt assessment with a minimum score of 70%.
• Coach four Black Belt or Green Belt projects from beginning to end.
• Coach two Lean activities from beginning to end.
• Complete the required coaching process with a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt instructor.

Successful completion of all coursework, assessment and coaching requirements is required to earn the Master Black Belt Certification.

Coaching

After successfully completing the online coursework and assessment, participants begin the coaching portion of the Master Black Belt Certification.

During this phase, participants apply their Master Black Belt skills by coaching Black Belt and Green Belt projects and Lean activities with guidance from a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt instructor.

Registration includes the required coaching, with up to 51 weeks available to complete the coaching requirements.

Participants will receive instructions and resources for beginning the coaching portion after successfully completing the coursework and assessment.
