Register for the Paralegal Certificate

Program Cost: $5,500

Delivery: Live Online
Duration: Approximately 25 weeks
Typical Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6–9:30 p.m., plus select Saturday sessions

Before You Register

Participants must meet the following admission requirements before completing the certificate:

  • Possess an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Submit an official or unofficial college transcript as required by the program.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Have the computer skills, equipment and reliable internet access necessary to participate in a live online program.

Certificate Requirements

To earn the UNC Charlotte Paralegal Certificate, participants must:

  • Earn a grade of C or better in each topic area.
  • Complete all required assignments, assessments and course activities.
  • Meet all attendance and participation requirements.

Payment Options

Program Cost: $5,500

A payment plan is available for eligible participants. Students may enroll with an initial deposit and pay the remaining balance through scheduled payments during the program.

The payment plan is established during checkout and uses automatic payments. The full program balance must be paid by the end of the course.

Textbooks and Materials

Textbooks and other required materials are purchased separately and are not included in the $5,500 registration fee. The estimated cost of required textbooks is $650.

The program recommends digital textbooks when available. The $650 estimate includes print editions of required textbooks that are not available digitally. Registered participants will receive information about required textbooks and materials before the program begins.

Students who prefer hard-copy editions of textbooks that are available digitally may contact the UNC Charlotte Bookstore for availability and pricing. Actual costs may vary based on textbook format and purchasing options.

Included with Registration: A personal LexisNexis account for use during the program is included in the registration fee.


North Carolina Paralegal Certification

The North Carolina State Bar Board of Paralegal Certification has designated UNC Charlotte’s Paralegal Certificate as a qualified paralegal studies program. Graduates satisfy the educational requirement to apply for certification and may be eligible to sit for the North Carolina Certified Paralegal examination.

Certification is separate from the UNC Charlotte Paralegal certificate program and is administered by the North Carolina State Bar.

Individuals with a criminal conviction or other circumstances that may affect certification eligibility are encouraged to contact the North Carolina State Bar before registering to determine whether they meet examination requirements.


Attendance Requirements

Full participation is expected throughout the program. Participants must meet all attendance requirements and be present for required instructional activities to receive credit toward the certificate.
