SKC418 - Niner Academy: Playwriting
Course Overview
Campers will explore the basic components of playwriting and production, with a performance at the end of the week. This camp is part-instruction, part-workshop: students will spend some time learning more about the basics of the craft, such as plot structure, character development, dialogue, script design, stage direction and set design, and some time writing, collaborating, and receiving feedback on their work. Campers will write sketches, monologues, and one-act plays, work individually and in groups, and put on an informal performance (in our classroom) at the end of the week. We will also discuss puppetry, improv, and musical theater, as we learn a variety of ways for bringing one’s script to life.
