Course Overview

Amazing Race camp is for students who are excited about leadership, intrigued by STEM, and are willing to think critically and creatively to compete with their peers in daily engineering challenges. Each challenge will be centered around a key societal issue and campers will engage in thoughtful and purposeful dialogue to become well informed about each issue. Using their knowledge, they will be asked to engineer products that will benefit society as a whole. Their ultimate goal will be to successfully engineer 5 themed products as they work collaboratively with community partners and their peers. Campers will have the opportunity to learn outside the classroom as they complete service learning activities that will inevitably inspire their engineering projects. This week-long camp will combine a traditional STEM camp experience with hands-on leadership activities allowing students to earn 10 service learning hours by the end of the week.
