Course Overview
Game Design & Coding Camp for Young Creators
If your child loves video games and dreams of creating their own, Coding: Make Your First Video Game/Roblox Makers is the perfect place to start. Designed specifically for students in grades 4–6, this camp introduces kids to the basics of coding and game design in a fun, age-appropriate way.
Campers spend part of the program building their first 2D video game and part of the program designing interactive experiences in Roblox®. No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a love of games!
Make Your First Video Game
Our classic game design camp has been reimagined to give students even more of what they love about games. In the Make Your First Video Game portion of the course, campers get the keys to designing their own 2D platformer.
What Your Child Will Learn

Shareable Projects
Student projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website so kids can proudly share their first video game with friends and family.

Safe and Shareable Experiences
Student-created Roblox games will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website, giving families a safe and convenient way to see what their child built.
Collaborative, Supportive Learning Environment
Throughout the camp, students will work in pairs or small teams for most activities. This collaborative approach helps kids practice communication, problem-solving, and teamwork—skills that are valuable far beyond the screen.
