Course Overview

Step into a world of color, pattern, and imagination! This week-long camp invites middle school artists to explore the beauty and meaning of fiber arts—a form of creative expression that connects people across time and culture. Each day, campers will dive into exciting projects inspired by renowned artists such as Anni Albers, Faith Ringgold, and Nick Cave, discovering how fabric can be transformed into a canvas for storytelling and self-expression. Alongside these modern influences, they’ll explore global textile traditions like Japanese shibori dyeing, Ghanaian Adinkra cloth, and Peruvian weaving. Through hands-on experiences in weaving, stitching, resist-dyeing, and jewelry making, campers will build a portfolio of personal and collaborative artworks that celebrate creativity, culture, and connection—one thread at a time.
