Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play an increasingly important role in shaping our professional work, classroom learning experiences, and personal lives. Technology Requirements: This course is highly interactive and we will expect your active participation in Zoom sessions. Please ensure you have a stable internet connection and a laptop/computer device with a microphone, headset/speakers, and camera for seamless video conferencing experience.

Schedule

  • This cohort is scheduled to begin on June 11, 2025, and end on June 24, 2025.
  • This cohort will include 5 synchronous Zoom sessions (one hour each) beginning on Wednesday June 11, 2025. There will also be a self-paced online capstone course (5 hours) where participants will submit a deliverable (video presentation).
  • Zoom class time: 9:00 - 10:00 AM EST

Week 1

Introduction to Generative AI and Prompt Writing (1 hour) - Wednesday, June 11, 2025 - This workshop is a one-hour synchronous online event where you can practice hands-on with Generative AI such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini.

Overview of Generative AI Tools for Education (1 hour) - Thursday, June 12, 2025 - This one-hour interactive group discussion covers some of the key developments in Generative AI technology and how it is being used in educational settings.

Supporting Self-Directed Learning with Generative AI (1 hour) - Friday, June 13, 2025 - This one-hour interactive group discussion will explore ways to use Generative AI to support student study skills.

Supporting Project-Based Learning with Generative AI (1 hours) - Monday, June 16, 2025 - This one-hour interactive workshop will demonstrate how to support students in using Generative AI to brainstorm ideas and revise and edit writing.

Ethical Considerations for Teaching with Generative AI (1 hour) - Tuesday, June 17, 2025 - This one-hour interactive group discussion covers the potential ethical implications of Generative AI and how to think critically about its potential risks in education.

Week 2

Capstone Project - A Five-Hour Self-Paced Online Module (5 hours) - June 18 - 24, 2025 - In this asynchronous portion of the course, participants will develop a project pitch on communicating and implementing Generative AI tools in your practice. You will be required to submit a video presentation on your project.
